4th International Symposium on Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM IV)

Following the success of the first three Enhanced Landfill Mining Symposia in 2010 (Belgium), 2013 (Belgium) and 2016 (Portugal), the Fourth International Symposium on Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM IV) is held in 2018 (February 5-7) in Belgium. The Symposium is organised in the framework of EURELCO (European Enhanced Landfill Mining Consortium) and the MSCA-ETN NEW-MINE project (EU Horizon 2020 Marie-Sklodowska Curie European Training Network NEW-MINE). As an extension to the Symposium, there is also an ELFM (Policy) Seminar in the European Parliament on February 7, 2018, in Brussels, Belgium. In this Second ELFM Seminar in the European Parliament the focus will be on EU Policies within the framework of the Circular Economy Package of the European Commission. The on-going ELFM EU Projects will be briefly presented. Key stakeholders of the European Parliament and the European Commission will discuss the future of ELFM in Europe, taking into account that Europe has more than 500,000 landfills of which only 10% comply with the EC Landfill Directive. Furthermore, there will be a 15 minute slot for the winner of the Best Paper Award of the regular ELFM IV Symposium.
